Social Events

There are a great many social as well as competitive events at the Tennis Centre... and new ones are being invented all of the time....
For details of all Grimsby Tennis Centre events see here

Play Tennis Day LTA Play Tennis

Each year the club, in conjunction with an LTA Scheme, holds a FREE open day for non-members to try their hand at tennis. Coaches are available on the day to assist and rackets can be borrowed where required.

The Centre hosts Tennis Tournaments for members and non-members to participate in. There are Mens and Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Play starts at 10.30 a.m. and continues in round robin format until finalists are decided. The finals take place at about 7.00 p.m. usually.

There is an Annual Closed tennis tournament in the Centre to determine the singles and doubles Champions. In recent years partners for doubles have been drawn to increase competition and 'even' out competition. This tournament is run over a two week period at the end of the summer.

Social Evenings and Events

All members are welcomed to social events. If you have any ideas please discuss it with a Director. The most popular times for social tennis at the Centre are Wednesday and Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Members are welcome to use the kitchen and barbeque but please leave the facilities clean after use.

The Centre hosts barbeques in the summer for members and their guests.

On Saturdays, Sundays and some other days, notably bank holidays, cups of tea and biscuits are available at a small charge.

Demonstration Evenings

A feature of recent years has been the 'demonstration' evenings that have been arranged with various racket manufacturers like Head, Wilson, Dunlop/Slazenger and Donnay. The manufacturers bring along their range of rackets to test and have also brought along items like ball machines and radar meters to speed-check your serves.

Wimbledon Lottery Draw

The Grimsby Tennis Centre is allocated tickets for the ATP event - the Championships at Wimbledon each year. Members interested in entering the ballot for tickets put their names on the sheet on the notice board and a draw is made for those lucky to receive tickets. The draw for Wimbledon Tickets is accompanied by a social occasion... also... look out for special food evenings... an opportunity to sample great cooking!
